A resin insert for the left equipment bay in 1:32, the rendition designated Basic. It allows a model to be displayed with the side panel swung open.
Responsibility details are not available.
Anyone can display a fighter closed up; only a swung-open panel gives away that someone studied the model against reality. On the Eagle the design itself invites it: the equipment boxes are housed in the sides of the fuselage behind the cockpit and a technician uncovers them with a single movement, with no steps and with no covers to remove.
The casting replaces the smooth inner wall of the injection-molded part with a finely rendered space. Resin carries finer relief than injection-molded polystyrene, so even details the size of a pinhead stay legible on the surface. The word Basic in the name separates this item from the other variant of the same bay that is offered.
First it is checked dry where the insert will sit, then an opening is cut in the plastic and only at the end is it glued. It is better to make the opening smaller and widen it gradually; a resin block can be tapped into a tight seat, whereas nobody can make an enlarged hole smaller again.
The castings come out of the mold with a casting block, which is cut off with a saw under water so that no dust is thrown up. Sanding resin dry is unpleasant for your health and the fine particles stay in a workshop for a long time. After it is cut off comes washing in lukewarm soapy water and only then a primer coat. The set will not replace an aircraft on its own; it counts on a kit in the same scale, which the modeler provides separately. More experienced builders add wiring of their own from thin wire to it, because the runs between the boxes are conspicuous on the real machine.
