This is a detailing accessory, not a kit of an aircraft. The resin replacement for the exhaust nozzle is intended for a model of the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II in 1:32 scale. On this type the nozzle is among the most prominent features of the rear end, and its shaping with a sawtooth rim and divided petals is difficult for an injection mold. A resin casting allows thinner walls and sharper edges, and in 1:32 scale the difference against series plastic is clearly visible.
The F-35A Lightning II is a single-engine fifth generation multirole aircraft in the standard with conventional takeoff and landing. Power comes from the Pratt & Whitney F135 engine, whose exhaust nozzle has a characteristic sawtooth termination matching the overall shaping of the airframe. It is precisely the rear end of the aircraft that is a closely watched place when looking at a parked machine, so improvements concentrate on it most often.
Wash the part in lukewarm water with dish soap because of the residue of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw rather than breaking it off, and finish the surface wet with your airways protected. For gluing, use cyanoacrylate superglue or epoxy; cement for plastic will not join resin. Paint and shade the nozzle separately, before it is glued into the fuselage – the inside cannot be reached well once assembled. Apply metallic and heat-tinted shades onto a smooth base, mix metallic paints thoroughly before use and spray them last, because they are hard to mask and to overspray.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
