Masks for spraying the striking coloring of the B-24D Liberator assembly ship in 1:32 scale, with stencils for the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B-24 Liberator is an American four-engine bomber of the Second World War with a high-set narrow wing and with twin vertical tails. Some worn-out examples were given a special task: as assembly ships they took off first and with a striking coloring guided the other machines into formation before the group set out for the target. That is exactly why they carried stripes, discs and other garish patterns that a combat machine would never have been given. The subject of this set goes by the name First Sergeant, that is, by the nickname of one particular machine.
In the package are die-cut masks for spraying this coloring in 1:32 scale and with them stencils for the national insignia. The large continuous areas of the pattern are hard to draw freehand and on a large model every imprecision is visible, so the masks transfer the shapes precisely and identically on both sides.
Spray the lighter shade of the pattern and let it cure. Degrease the surface, lay the mask on and press the edge down along its whole length. Apply the darker color in thin layers at right angles to the surface and take the mask off shortly after drying. Lay the long stripes in sections and keep checking whether they carry over across the wing and the fuselage.
The set is for builders of large bombers who want to spray a striking coloring rather than assemble it from decals. The contents are masks only; the model, paints and glue are not part of them, unless stated otherwise.
