A resin figure in 1:32 depicting a French airman of the First World War period in a relaxed pose with a pipe. The casting is meant as an accessory to large aircraft models or for an airfield diorama; in itself it is not a finished figure, as it is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Scale 1:32 is among the larger ones with aircraft models, so even fine detail of the face and the clothing stands out on the figure.
The French air service of the First World War operated from field airfields, where the pilots spent long hours between individual takeoffs waiting for an order or for the weather. It is precisely such a scene that the figure captures. The typical flying dress of the day was made up of a leather or canvas coverall, a leather helmet and goggles, and at higher flight levels a fur lining as well, because an open cockpit gave no protection from the cold.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the remains of mold release agent disappear. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand the surfaces down, best of all wet and with protection for your airways. Cyanoacrylate glue will secure the joining; plastic cement will not bond resin. Apply a thin primer and only then paint. We recommend painting the face and hands with a brush in layers from a darker base toward lighter areas, and the leather of the flying dress will stand out after light dry-brushing and a fine wash into the folds.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
