A set of cast wheels with weighted tires for a model of the British Hawker Hurricane fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that replaces the plastic wheels from the kit. The bottom of the tire is cast flattened, as if the weight of the machine were pressing on the wheel. In 1:32 scale the wheels are large and sit in the foreground, so the parting line left by two plastic halves is obvious at first glance; a one-piece casting does not have it.
The Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter from the Hawker design office, designed under Sydney Camm. It first flew in 1935 and entered service in 1937. It built on older technology: a tube frame with fabric covering over the rear fuselage was easy and quick to repair, which proved an advantage in combat. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. In the Battle of Britain it did most of the work and achieved more kills than the Spitfire. The landing gear retracted inwards into the fuselage and had a wide track.
Wash the parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the surface down, protecting your airways while sanding. Glue with cyanoacrylate, that is with super glue; cement for polystyrene does not hold on resin. Point the flattened part of the tire toward the ground and align both sides. Spray a primer before painting.
The set is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
