A set of Quinta Studio 3D-printed color decals in 1:32 scale for the interior of the Hawker Hurricane family. It is not a kit and not a resin part: these are decals on decal backing paper that have their own raised printed layer and are printed straight in color. They are applied into a cockpit that is already built and painted, where they replace hand painting of the small instruments and controls. The family designation in the name means that the set is worked out for several versions of the aircraft with a related interior.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter with a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine. It differed from the all-metal fighters of its day in its structure: the fuselage had a tube framework skinned with fabric over the rear part, which is visible in the way the inside of the cockpit is divided up as well. It is that tube framework that makes the Hurricane cockpit a rewarding but laborious subject - the tubular frame, the instrument panel and the side panels are clearly visible in 1:32 scale with the canopy open. The individual versions of the type differ in the interior only in details, which is why the set is listed as a family one.
First spray the surface underneath and polish it over with a gloss varnish - the part has no adhesive layer of its own and will not hold on a flat finish. Cut the sheet up into the individual parts, soak them in lukewarm water and let them rest a while until the backing releases. Transfer the part into place, slide it off the backing and tune the position while it is still wet. Blot the excess water away with a paper tissue and press the part carefully into the relief so that it seats in the recesses too. Do not use a softener or a setting solution: they attack the printed resin and ruin the part, and the maker forbids them in this range. Once dry, it is a good idea to go over the surroundings with a flat varnish so that the sheen of the backing does not show.
