Thematically it is aimed at the machines of the Royal Air Force deployed over Egypt. It is the fourteenth part of the line that the manufacturer issues for this type. It is not a kit but an accessory: the decals are applied to a model that has been painted and finished.
The Hurricane was the first production fighter monoplane of the Royal Air Force with a retractable undercarriage. The Mk.I version had a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and an armament made up of eight machine guns in the wing. The Mk.IIB received a more powerful Merlin with a two-speed supercharger and the number of machine guns rose to twelve. In the North African and Egyptian area the Hurricanes were used both as fighters and as strike machines; a typical feature of the period was the bulky dust filter under the nose, which protected the engine from sand.
Waterslide decals hold reliably only on a smooth glossy base. First spray the surface with a gloss varnish, therefore, and let it cure thoroughly. Dip the decal briefly, leave it to rest on its paper until the backing releases, and slide it into place. Soak the excess water up with a paper towel and apply a decal softener, so that the decal settles onto the engraved lines and onto the fabric covering of the rear part of the fuselage, which on the Hurricane has pronounced ribbing. Once dry, varnish the model with a matte coat, so that the edges disappear and the surface is unified.
