A decal sheet, not a kit. Within the numbered series this is part 1, and its theme lies outside the usual British finish: it is devoted to machines of the Mk.I version in Italian and Yugoslav service. For a modeler it is a way of building, from an ordinary kit, a machine you will not often meet at a show.
The Hurricane Mk.I was the first production version of the British Hawker fighter, with a Rolls-Royce engine and machine gun armament in the wings. Besides the Royal Air Force, other air forces adopted it even before the war broke out, and the Royal Yugoslav Air Force was among them; some of the machines were even built under local license. The Regia Aeronautica encountered the Hurricane mainly as captured equipment. Both settings mean markedly different markings and a different finish from British machines, and that is exactly what makes this sheet interesting.
First prepare a gloss base, because on a matte coat air becomes trapped under the carrier film and the edges start to silver. Release the decal in lukewarm water, move it into place and blot off the excess water. Then let a decal softener work so that the film settles into the engraved lines, and do not move the decal until it has dried. Finally wash the surface and unify the whole model with a matte overcoat, which hides the edges and prepares the surface for weathering.
