A photo-etched accessory set in 1:32 scale for a model of the British Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIb fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter and it did a substantial part of the work in the Battle of Britain, even though in general awareness it has stayed in the shadow of its more elegant contemporary. Structurally it came from an older school: the fuselage frame was made of steel tubing and the rear section stayed fabric covered. That turned out to be an advantage, because a hit in a fabric area could be repaired quickly and right at the squadron. The Mk.II version was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin XX V12 and the Mk.IIb form carried twelve 7.7 mm machine guns in the wings.
These are photo-etched parts in 1:32 scale for a model of the Hurricane Mk.IIb. The list of parts, their placement and the order of assembly are given in the instructions enclosed with the set. In the larger scale every detail is seen close up, so a thin metal part is worth the effort even where it would be lost in a smaller scale.
Go through the instructions before you start gluing the fuselage together, because some of the parts are fitted into spaces that are then closed up. Separate the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tabs away. Make the bends along the scored lines and make them in one go. Bond with super glue in minute amounts. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Do not overdo the painting of the fabric areas of the rear fuselage, as a hard shadow on the ribs looks unnatural when scaled down.
The set is for modelers who build the Hurricane in a large scale and want detail that matches what is visible on a model of that size. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
