A single-sided painting mask for the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB in 1:32 scale from Art Scale. Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the outer side of the canopy glazing of the Revell kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cut self-adhesive masks for painting the glazing frames on a model of the British fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit or a part of a model but an aid that replaces the lengthy cutting of narrow strips of masking tape. The single-sided version means that the masks cover the outer surface of the glazing; the interior of the cockpit is covered for the same type by the double-sided version. The set is cut for the Revell kit.
The Hurricane had a canopy divided into several frames, and to these is added the windscreen with armored glass. Hand-cut tape easily wanders on such an area and the frames then come out at different widths. A cut mask holds a constant width along its whole length and keeps it even where a frame turns into a curve. The Mk.IIB was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine and had twelve machine guns in the wing; on a model it is a late version with different wing details, which does not affect the masks for the glazing in any way.
In 1:32 scale the individual masks are fairly large and handling is easier than in smaller scales, yet still work with fine-tipped tweezers. Take the masks out of the sheet by lifting them with the tip of a scalpel, and do not touch the adhesive sides with your fingers. Once stuck down, press the edges so that paint cannot run under them, and spray several thin coats.
