A sheet of waterslide decals from the British manufacturer Xtradecal for models of the Hawker Hurricane fighter in the Mk.IIc version in 1:32 scale. The words first part refer to the order within the series, so it is a standalone sheet with its own content. The package contains markings only, not a model.
The Hurricane Mk.IIc was the cannon-armed version of the aircraft, set apart from the older machines by armament of four 20 mm Hispano cannons in the wing and by the Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine with a single-stage two-speed supercharger. The structure of the aircraft was based on a steel tube frame covered with fabric over the rear fuselage, which is characteristic of the Hurricane and shows on the surface of a model as well. The Mk.IIc version was used as a day fighter, a night fighter and for attacks on ground targets, and served in Europe and overseas alike.
It is precisely with the Hurricane that it pays to reach for a decal softener. The fuselage and the wing both have a markedly broken surface with suggested ribbing and fabric covering, and a dry decal would bridge over these irregularities. Apply the softener onto a decal that is still damp, then do not touch it for several minutes even if the film wrinkles, and finally prick any bubbles with the tip of a scalpel and go over it again.
