This product is a photo-etched detail set from the Czech maker Eduard, intended to improve a plastic model of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 Type 29 fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a set of fine metal parts, some of which are usually color-printed and self-adhesive. The set raises the fidelity of the interior and of selected areas of the model considerably.
Colored Eduard photo-etched sets usually bring pre-printed instrument panels, cockpit side panels, seat belts and other small elements that cannot be molded in plastic at a realistic thickness and in color. The result is a cockpit and detail that look markedly richer than out of the box.
The self-adhesive colored parts are transferred with tweezers, and the uncolored photo-etched parts are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A photo-etch bending tool is useful for clean bends. The uncolored metal parts are best degreased and given a coat of primer before spraying.
This is an accessory, not the model itself. The base kit, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
