An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese fighter Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden-Kai (Allied code name George) in the attractive large scale of 1:32 from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The model offers a richly detailed cockpit, a clear canopy with the option of an open position and finely rendered surface relief. Please verify the exact contents of the package and the number of decal schemes against the instruction sheet in the box. Paints, glue and accessories are not included in the package.
The N1K2-J Shiden-Kai was a single-engine fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which came about by reworking an older floatplane and its land-based version into a conventional low-wing aircraft. It belonged among the few Japanese machines of the closing period of the war that were able to match Allied fighters on equal terms. It was marked by strong gun armament and good handling, but its deployment was limited by the low numbers built and by the worsening state of Japanese aviation.
Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic joints, which welds the parts firmly and precisely. It pays to detail the cockpit and the instrument panel before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing and paint with an airbrush — first a thin base primer, then the color schemes. The large scale reveals every detail, so take care to clean up the parting lines and the places left by the sprue gates.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
