This is a detail accessory of cast resin, not a kit of an aircraft. The content is a replacement oil cooler for a model of the Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien in 1:32. The Quickboost range from the Czech manufacturer Aires concentrates on simple replacement parts that can be fitted quickly and without extensive modification, while replacing the most simplified parts of plastic models.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a Japanese fighter of the Second World War, and among Japanese production fighters it stood out in having a liquid-cooled V12 engine instead of the usual radial. That is precisely why it carries a prominent radiator under the fuselage, which is characteristic of the aircraft's silhouette. The Ki-61-Id version belongs to the later production batches. Besides the coolant radiator, the cooling system of a V12 engine called for a separate oil cooler, and in 1:32 it is a part that is clearly visible on a model at close range.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and rid it of any mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the surface by sanding wet with your airways protected. It is glued with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate. Before gluing, compare the part with the original plastic one and mark the position precisely; with replacement parts of this kind the fit tends to be direct, but dry-fitting still pays off. The meshes and fins of the cooler will stand out after a dark base is sprayed on, the basic aircraft color is sprayed over it from above and a dark wash is used to pick it out, staying in the recesses.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
