Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of DK Decals waterslide decals in 1:32 scale focused on Westland Lysander Mk.III aircraft of No. 161 Squadron RAF, that is, a unit intended for special duties. The abbreviation SD in the name refers to precisely that role. The set is not a kit or an accessory part; it serves to mark a finished model. Check the number of schemes and the individual machines on the packaging.
The Westland Lysander was a British high-wing aircraft for cooperation with ground units, designed with the emphasis on short take-off and landing. That was made possible by its extensive high-lift devices and sturdy landing gear, thanks to which the aircraft operated from improvised strips. It was precisely these qualities that made it a suitable type for the short-range night flights carried out by the special duties squadrons. Machines in this role looked different from ordinary observation Lysanders, including dark night finishes and, on some of the aircraft, an auxiliary tank under the fuselage.
With dark night schemes a uniform surface is especially important, because every bit of silvering shows on black. So spray the model with gloss varnish and let it cure. Cut the decals out close around the design, soak them in lukewarm water and settle them on the model, then draw the excess water off. On intricate places use a softener and let the decal dry perfectly before you go on. At the end comes a matte varnish, which unifies the surface, and only after it the patina and the emphasizing of the panel lines.
The package contains decals. The kit, paints and varnishes are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
