A resin accessory for building a model in the large 1:32 scale. It replaces the chaff and flare dispenser, that is the device for releasing dipole reflectors and flares, with a casting of crisp detail. This version captures the dispenser with loaded magazines, that is the state before use. It is not a model of the aircraft; the base kit is not included in the package.
A chaff and flare dispenser disrupts the guidance of anti-aircraft weapons: dipole reflectors work against radar guidance, flares against infrared guidance. On the model it is a small but conspicuous item on the spine of the fuselage, which in injection-molded plastic is usually simplified. A resin casting makes it possible to capture the edges of the chambers as well as the individual cartridges, which is clearly visible in 1:32 scale. Choosing the loaded version makes sense for a model captured before takeoff or in routine service.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting block off with a razor saw and level the seating surface on sanding paper so that the part does not sit crooked on the fuselage. Glue with cyanoacrylate, applied drop by drop with a toothpick or a piece of wire, so that the glue does not get onto the surrounding surface. Paint the loaded magazines differently from the body of the dispenser: the individual cartridges will come through if, after the base color, you emphasize them with a thin wash in the recesses and go over the edges with a dry brush. Finish the detail before gluing the part onto the model, as access is considerably worse afterwards.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a standalone kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
