The real subject

The P-47 Thunderbolt was among the heaviest single-engined fighters of the Second World War. It had to drive the air in front of it with a four-blade propeller of large diameter, which made it one of the recognition features of the type. Aircraft of this series flew with propellers from several suppliers and the blade shape differs between production batches; before you reach for the glue, check against your references which version the aircraft you are building had.

Building and painting tips

• Try the fit of the hub in the fuselage dry, as the diameter of the pin differs from kit to kit.
• Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface down.
• Before painting, wash the part in lukewarm water with detergent and degrease it.
• Paint the blades separately while they are still accessible from all sides.
• The glue suitable for the material used is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
