Photo-etched set for a model of the P-47D-20 Thunderbolt fighter aircraft in 1:32 scale. It will add fine metal elements to the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-47D was an American fighter aircraft that ranked among the heaviest and most rugged machines of its category. It was powered by an air-cooled radial engine with a turbocharger placed in the rear part of the fuselage, where the air traveled through long ducting beneath the cockpit floor. The D-20 version belongs to the group of forms with a raised razorback spine behind the cockpit, that is, before the later bubble canopy was introduced.
Photo-etched parts are etched out of thin metal sheet, so they have a thickness that a plastic part in that place cannot have. In the large 1:32 scale the difference is especially easy to see: edges, grilles and small fittings on a plastic part look soft, whereas a metal part has a sharp edge. The scope of the parts and their placement are given by the manufacturer in the instructions, and there you will also find which kit the set is cut for.
Before you start gluing, go through the whole of the instructions: some of the parts are usually fitted inside before the fuselage is joined. Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and hold them with tweezers. Make the bends in an etching bender or along a steel ruler. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minute amount, and with epoxy on the larger parts. Degrease the metal before painting and lay down a base coat.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
