The cast exhaust stacks 1:32 P-51B Mustang exhaust by the brand Quickboost replace the coarse plastic parts on the sides of the engine cowling of a large model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory intended for replacing the exhaust stacks on a model of the American fighter. Because of the way the mold works, the plastic parts tend to be solid and blunt, whereas a casting offers sharper edges and a more pronounced shadow. In 1:32 scale that difference is particularly easy to see, because the engine cowling is one of the places a viewer looks at first.
The P-51B version meant a decisive turn for the Mustang. The original American engine was replaced by a license-built British Merlin power unit with a two-stage supercharger, thanks to which the fighter finally came alive at high altitude. The fuselage kept the dorsal spine behind the cockpit and a framed canopy; only the later version received a bubble canopy. It was with this variant that escort flights over Germany began at the turn of 1943 and 1944, which finally gave the American bomber formations fighter cover along the whole route.
Separate the parts from the casting block with a saw or a cutting disc and level the face. Wash them before gluing so that the mold release agent is gone. It works well to give the castings a dark base coat and to go over the edges dry with a metallic pigment, then to finish the exhausts with rust and soot shades.
