Resin R-73 air-to-air missiles in 1:32 scale, four pieces in the package. It is accessory armament for models of aircraft, not a model of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set from the manufacturer Reskit holds, by its name, four resin R-73 air-to-air missiles. They serve as accessory armament for the pylons of models of Soviet and Russian combat aircraft — it is not a kit of an aircraft nor a finished model. A resin casting renders the shape of the guidance head, the front canards and the rear control surfaces more sharply, which is clearly visible in 1:32 scale.
The R-73, in the NATO designation AA-11 Archer, is a short-range air-to-air guided missile with infrared guidance, brought into service in the middle of the nineteen-eighties. It is characteristic for its aerodynamic layout with small control surfaces at the front and for thrust vectoring, thanks to which it is agile right after launch. Together with a helmet-mounted sight it made it possible to attack targets off the axis of flight, which was a substantial step forward for its time. A number of aircraft of the Sukhoi Su-27 family and its derived versions carry it, as does the Mikoyan MiG-29.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the release agent from the mold is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the area; the fine surfaces are brittle, so work with them carefully and glue any snapped-off part back with cyanoacrylate glue. Glue the missiles on only after trying the seating on the pylon dry, so that all four point in the same direction and have the same spacing. It pays to paint them separately from the airframe and to fit them at the end. Choose the shades and the markings according to documentation of a particular machine — training and live missiles differ in colored bands and lettering.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
