A single figure in 1:32 scale from the Aerobonus brand, made by the Czech maker Aires. The range of these figures came about so that large aircraft models would not stand alone in a display case: a human figure beside an airframe says at once how big the machine really is, and gives the setting a story as well. This item represents an officer of the ground crew, that is, a man who does not fly the aircraft but decides whether it is ready.
The casting is supplied with separate arms and head, so a small turn lets you adapt the stance to a particular scene. The 1:32 scale is rewarding for figures – the height of the figure allows the face and the folds of the clothing to be worked up so that they really are visible from an ordinary distance.
First wash the parts in warm soapy water, so that no residue of mold release agent is left on the surface and the paint will hold. Cut the remains of the pour gates off with a saw or a sharp knife, do not inhale the sanding dust and do the sanding under running water. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally after trying the stance dry. For painting, reach for a thin coat of primer, build the face up in layers from a darker undercoat toward lighter areas and unify the clothing with a closing dark shading into the folds.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the glue and paints to finish it are a separate item.
