1:32 Soviet fighter pilot winter WW II N°3 is a resin figure of a Soviet fighter pilot in winter gear for large aircraft models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin casting from the Czech maker Black Dog shows a member of the Soviet Air Force of the Second World War dressed in winter flying gear. The figure is cut for the largest aircraft scales in common use and shows best beside the engine cowling of a machine or in a scene on the apron. The 1:32 size allows even small details to be worked in that would be lost in a smaller scale, from buckles to the fastenings of the flying suit.
The cockpits of the fighters of the day were only weakly heated, so pilots on the Eastern Front took off in a fur-lined combination suit, high fur boots, a leather flying helmet with goggles and gloves with long cuffs. The bulky layer of clothing changes the silhouette so much that a winter figure can be told from a summer one at a glance. The gloves were often taken off, though, because the trigger and the switches could not be worked in them, and the hands then went numb within a few minutes.
Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, level the surfaces and wash the surface in warm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears. Super glue holds the joints. Lay down a thin primer before painting; the fur trims come out well with drybrushing, while smooth leather takes a slightly glossier finish.
The casting is supplied unassembled and unpainted; paints and glue are not in the box.
