Art Scale 1:32 Spitfire Mk.II, double-sided masking set is a set of pre-cut masks for spraying the canopy framing of the British fighter from both sides. It is not a kit but an accessory for the Revell and Hobby 2000 kits.

The set contains masks cut to the outline of the clear parts of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.II model in 1:32 scale. The model is not included in the package; it is an aid for painting. The masks are cut for the Revell and Hobby 2000 kits, so they line up with the engraved framing and there is no need to trim tape with a knife on the finished part. The double-sided designation means that the set allows for masking from the outside and from the inside; the framing can then be sprayed in the interior color from inside, which shows a great deal on the Spitfire with its well transparent canopy.
The real subject
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.II followed on from the first production version, the Mk.I, and differed from it mainly in its more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin XII engine with a variable-pitch propeller. It was built from 1940 onward, mostly at a newly established high-capacity factory. The characteristic elliptical wing, the slender fuselage and the sliding canopy are among the best-known shapes in aviation history.
Wash and degrease the clear part. Lift the masks off the sheet with a sharp point or tweezers and seat them so that the edge lines up with the engraved frame; work the pressure from the center outward. Press the edges down once more with a toothpick. Spray in thin coats and in several passes; a heavy coat tears when the mask is lifted. The usual order is the interior color, then the primer and the covering shade of the exterior. Lift the mask once the paint has dried, while it is not yet fully cured, and remove any glue residue with a mild product that will not attack clear plastic.
It is a masking accessory for a build, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
