An Eduard photo-etched set for the interior of a Spitfire Mk.II model in 1:32 scale. It replaces and completes the plastic parts of the cockpit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.II followed on from the first production version and carried a more powerful form of the V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. It reached the squadrons from the second half of 1940 and is among the best known British fighters of all. The cockpit of the Spitfire is rewarding for modelers, because behind the large canopy and the hinged door you can see even what stays hidden on other types.
Photo-etched parts are made of thin metal sheet, so they have the real thickness of the original where plastic cannot. That is exactly why they suit an interior: shaped panels, brackets, levers and similar small items cannot be made thin enough in injection plastic. In 1:32 scale the cockpit is large enough for the difference to be apparent at a glance.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface rather than by snapping them off, otherwise they bend. Make the bends exactly along the scored line; where a part is to replace a plastic lug, cut the plastic off first and true the surface so that the photo-etched part seats. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied in drops, and on larger surfaces a slow-setting glue that allows time to align it comes in useful. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer.
For modelers who already have experience with photo-etched brass and are building a Spitfire in a large scale. A model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
