An injection-molded plastic model of the German fighter biplane Albatros D.III in 1:48 scale, in the popular ProfiPACK edition from the Czech brand Eduard. ProfiPACK means that, alongside the plastic, the package includes colored photo-etch and wheel masks, so you build a richly equipped model straight from the box. The set offers several marking options, including aircraft of well-known pilots from Jasta units.
The Albatros D.III was one of the key German fighter biplanes of the First World War. It was distinguished by an elegant, slender fuselage, a lower wing of reduced span (a so-called sesquiplane), and armament of two synchronized machine guns. In the hands of experienced pilots, it was a feared opponent in the skies of 1917.
Glue the plastic parts with thin liquid plastic cement, and the small colored photo-etch with cyanoacrylate (super glue). The included masks make painting the wheels easy. Plan on rigging — stringing tensioning wires between the wings, which gives a biplane its realistic look; you can use drawn wire or special thread. Apply a primer before painting, and render the fuselage's wooden surfaces with a wash to imitate wood grain.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
