A resin detail part in 1:32 scale from Aires, Quickboost range. It is not an airplane model but the separate cockpit entry door, which on the real Spitfire hinged down on the left side and made it easier for the pilot to get in. The resin part captures the inner stiffeners and the kind of detail that is worth showing on a model with an open cockpit.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was one of the most successful British fighters of the Second World War and was deployed in large numbers on many fronts. The small hinged door on the side of the cockpit let the pilot get into the cramped space. An open door is a popular way to give a model life and show the interior.
Wash the resin part free of mold release agent, cut off the casting block and sand it with your breathing protected. Glue it with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The door can be fitted open and its inner face brought out with interior paint and a light wash. Test the fit in the opening in the fuselage side before gluing.
