A jettisonable tank extends the range of a fighter without the internal fuel system having to be changed. It is hung under the fuselage or under the wing and, the moment it comes to maneuvering combat, it is jettisoned, because it increases both drag and weight. Tanks of this type were made in enormous numbers and appear on models as an ordinary part of the equipment. In 1:32 scale their surface is very much on show, so it pays to have a casting with a clean seam instead of a plastic part made up of two halves.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent and let them dry, otherwise the paint will not hold on remains of the release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, and it is better to strengthen the mounting with a piece of wire, because in this scale the casting already has some weight to it. The surface of a tank tends to be smooth, so it forgives little; fill and sand every bubble before you apply the primer. A glossier base will make applying the markings later easier.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
