The set brings the American AN-M64A1 aerial bomb in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane model but an accessory of external stores with which a plastic kit of an American combat airplane of the Second World War period and of later years can be fitted out. The casting captures the shape of the body of the bomb, the lifting lug and the box tail fin assembly more sharply than parts from an ordinary injection mold manage, and that above all in the places where a plastic part carries the trace of a parting line.
The AN-M64A1 belonged to the American range of general-purpose aerial bombs of the weight class of approximately 227 kg, designated 500 lb in the original marking. The body was cylindrical with a conical nose section and carried a light sheet metal fin assembly at the rear. Bombs of this class were carried by fighter-bombers and by twin-engined and heavy bombers, and they stayed in use after 1945 as well. For a single-engined airplane they were a typical load on a fuselage or wing rack, while on larger machines they were loaded into a bomb bay.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove the residue of release agent from the mold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc rather than snapping them off, then level the surface with abrasive paper. It is glued with super glue on a cyanoacrylate base, as ordinary cement for plastic does not dissolve resin. It pays to spray the base color on before gluing, because it reveals small bubbles and places that have not been sanded enough. Do the sanding of resin with breathing protection. Period American bombs usually had a single-color dark finish supplemented with identification bands, and the particular scheme is better chosen from photographs of the machine you have selected.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the target kit are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
