Not every wooden surface on a model was once planed to a shine. Crates, hangar floors, gun carriages, the bodies of wagons and ship decks all carried a distinct grain that was visible through varnish and through dirt alike. This sheet offers exactly that kind of texture: wide growth rings with pronounced transitions, which stand out in the larger scales.
The version is prepared for models in 1:32 and 1:48 scale. It suits flat and large areas best, where the rhythm of the grain stands out, that is planking, platforms, wooden crates in a diorama or the carriages of guns. It also finds a use on aircraft whose wooden structure was coarser, for example on parts of an interior or on propellers assembled from several glued layers.
The basis is a light gloss surface on which the film will not go dull. Cut a piece off with a margin, soak it and let it rest on the paper until it can be slid. After laying it on, align the direction of the grain along the longer edge of the part. Before the film dries, go over the area with a soft brush so that no air is left under it. Only then trim the excess and finish the surface with an oil paint glaze and a matte overcoat that unifies the sheen.
Two sheets of decals are supplied, nothing more. Paints, varnishes, a decal softener and model parts are not sent, and no instructions can replace a trial of your own on an offcut, because every color underneath changes the resulting shade of the wood differently.
