1:48 Northrop F-5E/F Tiger II arresting hook (type 2) is a resin arrestor hook for a model of the light Tiger II fighter in 1:48 scale, the type 2 version. It is an accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin part from Quickboost replaces the arrestor hook on the underside of the rear fuselage of the Northrop F-5E and F-5F Tiger II. The brand offers the hook in two versions, and this is type 2. Which of them matches the machine you are building is best told from photographs of the particular aircraft. An aircraft model is not included in the package; you are buying a single detail part for a model in 1:48 scale.
Carrier aircraft are not the only ones with an arrestor hook. The Tiger II is a land-based fighter, yet it carries one, because it allows an emergency catch on a cable stretched across the runway when the brakes fail or a landing is aborted. On a model it is a small but conspicuous element that everyone notices when looking from behind and below. The plastic form of the same part tends to be coarse and disproportionately thick because of the limits of the injection mold.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw as close to the part as possible, level the face with wet sandpaper and protect your airways while doing so. Because of the small dimensions, work over a tray with a raised rim. It is glued with super glue, which you should apply with a pin so that the excess does not run onto the surface of the model. Seat and paint the hook only after the underside of the fuselage has been varnished; contrasting stripes and a fine wash into the shadows will give it credibility.
