A figure accessory in 1:35 scale from Black Dog on the theme of an American sniper. The designation N°2 means the second number in the range; alongside it the manufacturer also offers number N°1 and a complementary set, so the subject can be extended.
Ninety percent of a sniper's work is waiting, and being inconspicuous is his main weapon. He therefore brings a different kind of tension into a diorama than attacking infantry: a motionless figure that blends into its surroundings and that the viewer discovers only after a while. It comes out best in a scene where it has cover around it: rubble, tall grass, a roof parapet or the edge of a wood. Anyone building a display-case scene on a small area will appreciate that such a subject needs neither vehicles nor further figures.
Inconspicuousness can be painted. Keep the contrasts lower than on an ordinary figure, so that the silhouette merges with its surroundings, and tie it to the base in color: a few strokes in the shade of the terrain on the trouser legs and shoulders will do more than the best camouflage pattern. Bring the face out, by contrast, because it is the only place the viewer looks at closely. Close the optics with a dark color and one glossy point imitating the reflection in a lens.
