An accessory set for the engine section of a model of the Westland Merlin HC3 transport helicopter in 1:48 scale, marked as set number 1.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Westland Merlin HC3 is a transport helicopter derived from the EH101 type. In the Royal Air Force it served to carry troops and cargo, that is for tasks where range and payload count rather than speed. A model of this machine in 1:48 scale is a rewarding subject precisely because there is a great deal to see on it.
The set completes a model with the engine section of the machine. The number in the name tells the individual sets of the same range apart. The exact list of parts, the way they are seated and what has to be cut away or altered on the kit are given in the instructions supplied with the set.
The parts are not made of polystyrene, so cement for plastic will not join them: use super glue, and a two-part resin for larger joints. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down. Before painting, wash, degrease and prime the parts. If you want the engine section exposed, bear in mind that its surroundings will be visible as well, and kits usually handle those only roughly, so set aside time for them. Setting the individual units and lines apart in color will do more for the result than the best gloss finish.
The set is for modelers who want to show on a finished helicopter what is usually hidden under the panels, and who do not mind tuning the placing of the parts to the particular kit. The model of the helicopter itself, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
