A set of small equipment from SX-Art. The package contains ten American fuel jerrycans; further details of their rendition are given on the box of the set. The use is wide: the vessels belong with vehicles, with supply points and with figures that happen to be carrying them.
The portable vessel for fuel became one of the most widespread pieces of field equipment, and with variations armies all over the world took it over. Three handles make it possible to carry the jerrycan in one hand, between two people, and to pass it from hand to hand. Jerrycans were carried on the external carriers of vehicles, on the beds of trucks, and in depots they were lined up in long rows. For modelers they are rewarding precisely because many of them can be used in a scene and yet they never look out of place.
First apply a uniform base, then set the individual pieces apart with a darker or lighter cast, and only at the end work with the patina. A dry brush will bring out the pressed reinforcements and the rims, while a thin wash will bring out the transitions and the shadow under the handles. Feel free to leave one or two vessels markedly more battered than the others; the viewer's eye will settle on them and the scene thus gains a center of attention.
