This 1:72 model is released by the Polish manufacturer Answer Plastic Kits, which has long focused on aircraft and helicopters operated in Poland. The exact make-up of the package and the number of parts are in the instructions enclosed in the box.
The C-295M is a turboprop tactical transport aircraft with a high-mounted wing, a rear cargo ramp and landing gear suited to operation from short and unpaved strips. It grows out of the design of the smaller CN-235, from which it differs in its lengthened fuselage and more powerful engines with multi-blade propellers. It is used to carry cargo and people, for airdrop and paratroop tasks, for medical evacuation and for crew training. The Polish Air Force took the type on at the start of this century and operates it with its transport units; individual aircraft receive non-standard finishes for anniversaries and exercises, and this version focuses on one of them.
The large cabin glazing and the smooth fuselage surfaces call for careful preparation. Try the parts dry first, join the fuselage and wing seams with thin cement for plastic and sand and polish the seams gently, because under a light finish they would otherwise stand out. Apply a primer before painting; it evens the surface out and reveals unfinished work. Commemorative schemes tend to have hard color boundaries, so it is more practical to spray with an airbrush in layers from the light shades to the dark ones and to mask with good tape. Give the areas a gloss coat before the decals and, once dry, even the surface out with a flat or satin coat. A transport aircraft will take only discreet weathering: a gentle emphasis on the panel lines, a suggestion of exhaust behind the engine nacelles and slight soiling of the wheel bays.
