A turned 120 mm barrel in the L/44 form for the model of the Leopard 2A4/A5 tank in 1:35 scale from the Polish brand Aber.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement barrel for the 120 mm smoothbore gun, 44 calibers long, in 1:35 scale, intended for models of the Leopard 2 tank in the 2A4 and 2A5 versions. It replaces a two-part plastic piece on which the lengthwise seam always has to be sanded down.
The Leopard 2 was given a Rheinmetall 120 mm smoothbore gun in the turret. Both the 2A4 and the 2A5 carried the shorter L/44 form; the longer L/55, recognizable by its markedly projecting barrel, came only with the later update. The designation in the name therefore also defines which variants of the tank the part belongs to, and it is a detail a knowledgeable viewer notices on a finished model. The barrel is at the same time the most prominent element of the whole silhouette of the tank, so any inaccuracy shows on it sooner than anywhere else.
Cut the plastic barrel off where it enters the mantlet and carefully redrill the opening, so that the turned part seats without play. The metal holds best with cyanoacrylate glue or two-part resin. Degrease the surface before painting and use a primer made for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface and will rub off easily during handling.
What is for sale is the barrel, not the tank: both it and the paints have to be obtained separately.
