1:35 26“ Moutain bike (early 90´s)

A mountain bike with 26-inch wheels in 1:35 scale

A model of a mountain bike in 1:35 scale, rendered after the shape it had in the early 1990s. A wheel diameter of 26 inches was then the usual measure on mountain bikes and it holds to this day as a recognition mark of that generation of machines.

Where the model fits

The bike shares the 1:35 scale with military hardware and with most figures, so it can be placed into a scene as an accessory rather than only as a model on its own. A finished bike works out to roughly five centimeters in length, leans against a wall, a fence or the side of a vehicle and gives the scene both scale and an everyday tone. It also suits civilian scenes from the close of the twentieth century.

Building and painting tips

• Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder carefully.
• Wash and degrease the frame and the wheels before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on the smooth surface.
• Glue thin parts, such as the handlebar assembly and the kickstand, only after the frame is painted.
• Liven a colored frame up with a dark wash into the recesses, so that the structure of the tubes stands out.
• Tone the tires and the saddle matte, and the metal parts with a fine sheen instead.
• The particular building procedure and the range of parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Who the model is for

For builders of dioramas and urban scenes in 1:35 scale who are looking for a small item to liven a scene up, and for collectors of bicycle models. Given the size of the parts, this is work for tweezers and a calm hand.

The package contains the parts of the model only. Figures, paints, glue and a base are not included, unless stated otherwise.
