The plastic kit Das Werk 1:35 2cm Salvenmaschinenkanone SMK 18, Typ 2: a standalone model of the German rapid-fire 20 mm cannon.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the German rapid-fire 20 mm cannon in 1:35 scale from the Das Werk brand, in the Typ 2 form. This is not a vehicle but a standalone weapon mount, that is, a model that will serve mainly as the main or an accompanying element of a diorama. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The designation Salvenmaschinenkanone refers to a German design of rapid-fire 20 mm cannon from the period of the Second World War. Weapons of this caliber served above all for defense against low-flying targets and against lightly protected ground hardware; a larger crew worked them and the weapon was moved on its own carriage parts.
Models of artillery mounts have many small parts in proportion to their size and many visible joints. It pays to proceed by subassemblies, the carriage, the elevation and traverse mechanism, the barrel, the shield, and to try each one dry before you reach for the glue. Apply thin plastic cement into the seam with a fine brush, not onto the surface. The barrel and its muzzle are among the most closely watched places on a model, so devote time to cleaning the parting line up. Begin the painting with primer, continue with the base shade sprayed with an airbrush and finish the details with a brush. Weathering with a wash will bring out how broken up the mechanism is, and dust pigments on the lower part will then settle the model into the terrain.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
