A plastic kit of the Italian 3Ro truck in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models. It is completely new tooling and the first rendering of this vehicle in injection-molded plastic. The model represents the basic cargo version with a flatbed body. The package contains a chassis worked out in detail, an engine, photo-etched parts including the steel cables run along the frame, doors and a hood that can be opened, and wheels with a raised tread pattern made in a multi-part slide mold.
The 3Ro came from the Ro series of heavy trucks and was powered by a five-cylinder diesel engine. It was built in both civilian and military form between 1938 and 1947 and became the main heavy truck of the Italian army in the Second World War. Around nine and a half thousand military examples were made in a number of versions: as a flatbed for carrying cargo, for carrying troops, as a tractor for moving equipment, for transporting horses or in a tanker form. The vehicles served in the Balkans, in North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
Assemble the frame and the running gear on a flat surface and make sure that all the wheels sit in one plane. Paint and weather the engine and the cab interior before you close them up; if you build the hood open, it pays to add a wash and fine oil stains in the engine bay. Glue the photo-etched cables with super glue and tighten them gradually. For the patina use a dark wash in the detail, dry brushing on the edges and finally dust and mud pigments with rising intensity toward the chassis and the fenders.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
