This injection-molded plastic kit captures the German Bergepanther armored recovery vehicle in the late conversion carried out in 1944 and 1945 by the Seibert works on older Panther Ausf. D hulls. The model in 1:35 scale from Takom offers a full interior, so the inside of the vehicle can be built up in detail as well.
The Bergepanther was built on the chassis of the Panther medium tank and served to recover and tow heavy armored vehicles that lighter tractors could not handle. The conversions designated Umbau Seibert were made from turretless Panther Ausf. D hulls withdrawn from combat use; in place of the turret they received a sheet-metal cover over the turret ring and working equipment for recovery.
Finish and paint the interior and the running gear first, and only then close up the hull. Use liquid cement for plastic and apply primer before painting. Assemble the link-by-link tracks according to the instructions; mud and dust effects with washes and pigments will give the vehicle convincing weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
