An injection-molded plastic kit of the modernized Russian BMP-1AM Basurmanin infantry fighting vehicle in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model represents the present-day conversion of the classic BMP-1, in which the original turret was replaced by a new fighting turret with an autocannon. The package contains plastic sprues and the other parts needed to build the broken-up hull, the running gear and the turret.
The BMP-1AM Basurmanin is a modern Russian modernization of the proven BMP-1 tracked infantry fighting vehicle. The fundamental change is the new turret taken over from the BTR-80A armored personnel carrier, fitted with a 30 mm autocannon, a coaxial machine gun and smoke grenade launchers. The conversion was meant to extend the life of a large number of older vehicles and to raise their firepower. The vehicle was shown at the end of the 2010s and is among the newest conversions of this type.
Build a tracked vehicle in subassemblies. Assemble and complete the running gear, the wheels and the tracks before you close the hull, so that you have good access to every surface. Join the plastic with thin modeling cement. Apply a primer before painting; modern Russian green shades suit as a base. Create the weathering with a dark wash in the recesses, dust pigments on the running gear and the lower parts and a subtle lift of the edges with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
