Decals 1:35 the British 27th Armoured Brigade in Normandy is the second set on the theme, intended for the Sherman III and Firefly Vc tanks.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of markings in 1:35 scale for the British Sherman III and Sherman Firefly Vc tanks in the form they had at the landing and in the fighting that followed in Normandy. There is no kit in the package; the decals serve to give a finished model the markings of a particular brigade.
The 27th Armoured Brigade was among the units that got onto the shore on June 6, 1944 among the first and supported the infantry in the advance inland. Some of its tanks swam to the beach as floating machines with a folding screen. Sherman III is the British designation for the variant with the diesel engine, and the Firefly Vc is a Sherman re-armed with the British 17-pounder anti-tank gun, which as one of the few Allied tanks was able to threaten the heavy German machines at longer range. The brigade operated as a formation for only a few weeks, which makes its markings a fairly narrowly bounded theme.
If you build a machine as it looked at the landing, the elements of the waterproofing and their remnants belong with it as well, and they partly covered the markings. The Firefly has a markedly longer barrel and a different arrangement of the stowage, so the layout of the markings on the turret differs from an ordinary Sherman: think it through before you lay a decal down. At the end, fine Normandy limestone dust on the lower surfaces and wear in the places the crew walked will help.
