An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Chieftain main battle tank in 1:35 scale from Takom in a 2 in 1 release that allows the vehicle to be built either as a Chieftain Mk.5 or as the export Mk.5/P version. The package holds a photo-etched fret, individual track links with separate pads, clear parts and generous decals for several vehicles, foreign users among them. Takom also makes the different Mk.10 and Mk.11 versions.
The Chieftain was a British main battle tank taken into service in 1967, in its day one of the most heavily armed and best armored tanks in NATO. The Mk.5 was the final British production version with a 120 mm gun. Chieftains were exported in large numbers and served with armies in the Middle East, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Oman and Kuwait among them; the export modifications took account of different operating conditions.
Work with liquid cement for plastic and glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Finish and paint the running gear and the open hatches first. Assemble the individual track links and the separate pads patiently. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush; the desert export schemes will reward dust pigments, the European ones mud washes on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
