A single resin figure in 1:35 from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. The uniform matches a British armored unit marked RAC in the pattern for North Africa and Italy, that is lighter field dress. The figure serves as an add-on to a vehicle model or for a diorama; it is not a kit of equipment.
Resin holds a sharp rendering of the folds of the shirt and the trousers, the pockets and the small equipment, which injection-molded plastic usually softens in this scale. The figure tends to be split into a torso and a head, or into arms as well, so that it can be cast without undercuts; on figures the joints run under the collar, on the shoulders or in a sleeve, where a fold will hide them once glued.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry out. Cut the casting block off with a saw and finish the surface, protecting your airways while sanding. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, fill the gap at the neck with filler and sand it down. Apply a primer. Light field dress is painted differently from heavy cloth: lay the base on across the whole surface, lighten the crests of the folds more markedly, because thin fabric makes sharper edges, and keep the wash thinner, so that it does not draw out into the whole surface. Shift the shade of the trousers and the shirt slightly apart; a uniform never reads as one color. Set the leather items and the boots apart with a higher gloss, and the webbing straps, by contrast, completely matte. Finish the face and the hands with oil paints; on a figure in a warm climate a darker, more tanned tone of the skin proves itself. At the end knock the surface back with a matte clear coat and bring the gloss back only at points.
