This is not a vehicle kit, but a pair of turned metal barrels to detail a model. Per the manufacturer, the set contains 2 barrels for the Browning M1919 .30 caliber machine gun in 1:35 scale, in the one-piece cylindrical muzzle version. This muzzle shape is the set's main distinguishing feature, since the manufacturer also offers a variant with a two-piece conical muzzle.
The Browning M1919 is an air-cooled .30 caliber machine gun used as an infantry weapon as well as a vehicle and aircraft weapon. On armored-vehicle models it appears in turret and hull mounts, and its perforated cooling jacket with the protruding barrel is a detail everyone notices on a finished figure or vehicle. The plastic barrel has a blind muzzle that must be drilled out, which at such a small diameter often ends with a snapped-off part. The turned metal version has the bore already open, holds a straight line, and keeps weathering without chipping.
Cut off the plastic barrel at the cooling jacket and level the surface. Drill a hole in the jacket to match the diameter of the metal barrel's pin, test-fit it dry, and glue with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer made for metal. The weapon looks more convincing when you use bluing or a dark oxidized finish instead of flat black, lightly polishing the edges afterward. A dry-brushed steel tone on the muzzle and edges gives exactly the amount of shine that wear produces on a real weapon.
The add-on is supplied unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
