1:35 Camouflage net type 2

Camouflage net 1:35, type 2 (Metallic Details)

A camouflage net in 1:35 scale, type 2 of a series of five versions intended for a diorama and for covering a model of equipment. A stretched net will be appreciated by anyone building a scene with concealed equipment or a firing position - it is precisely an irregularly hanging net that looks the most alive in a diorama. The individual types in this series differ from one another, so make your choice according to the look of the particular version.

Use in a scene

• Draped over a vehicle, a gun or a firing position in a diorama.
• Covering a load, crates and supplies on a cargo bed or on a pile.
• Stretched over a simple structure of wire or sticks as a shelter.
• A cut-off piece as a remnant of net caught on vegetation or on a fence.

Shaping and painting tips

First lay the net down loosely and find the shape that fits - and only then fix it. The proven procedure is to soak it in thinned PVA glue with a drop of detergent, arrange the sag and let it dry; the material then holds its shape. The points of contact with the model can be tacked down with cyanoacrylate glue, but with the minimum amount of material, so that no glossy patch appears. For color, unify the net with a light spray from a distance, more a cloud of paint than a full coat, so that the structure of the mesh stays visible. A dark wash gives shadow and depth, and pigments applied with a dry brush from above give dust. It pays to leave the edges irregular and to tear them in places, because a straight cut looks like modeling.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and military equipment in 1:35 scale who want to bring a scene to life with a textile element and at the same time soften the hard outlines of a model. The work calls for no advanced technique, rather a feel for arrangement and patience while it dries.

This is a scenic accessory, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
