The last, fifth number from the series of cast supports with return rollers for a model of the Pz.Kpfw IV tank in 1:35 scale. The set is meant for replacing the corresponding parts on the side of the hull and assumes that you already have the kit of the tank. The sequence number in the name is the only reliable way to tell the individual renditions apart.
In reality several kinds of dirt meet in the vicinity of the return rollers. Dust falls from above, mud thrown up by the track splashes from below and grease runs off the hubs, binding to itself everything that flies past. The result is a dark, greasy band that differs from the rest of the hull not only in shade, but in sheen as well. A differentiated surface is at the same time what separates a decent model from a very good one, and the upper part of the running gear gives an ideal opportunity for it.
Make the base darker than the color of the hull is, and add light only on the upper edges of the rollers. Apply dried mud in thin layers from below, use wet effects sparingly and only where water would really hold. Rub dry pigment into the hollows around the support with a brush and wipe the surplus away. The track comes only at the close, otherwise you will not get into the space between the rollers.
