The Sikorsky CH-54A Tarhe is an American heavy helicopter of the flying crane concept. It has no conventional cargo compartment — the fuselage is narrowed to a beam between the cabin and the tail, and the load is carried slung beneath it or in a container between the tall landing gear legs. The six-blade main rotor, the long landing gear legs and the exposed units mean that there are plenty of small shapes on the outside of the machine, and photo-etched parts suit them exactly in 1:35 scale.
Nip the parts out with a scalpel on glass or a hard surface and clean the remains of the gates up. Make the bends in a bender or between razor blades, and always in one movement. For exterior parts it suits to bond with super glue that has a longer setting time — there is then time to align a part before it hardens. In the places where a photo-etched part is to go, first cut and sand away the molded plastic detail, or the new part will not seat. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a primer; then level the finished surface with the rest of the model, so that the metal parts do not stand out with a different texture.
The set is an accessory for a model. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
