Idler wheels of the Churchill infantry tank in 1:35 scale from the PANZER ART marque: the part that sets the tension of the track.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of idler wheels for the British Churchill infantry tank from the PANZER ART marque. Unlike the road wheels, the idler sits at the end of the track frame and sets the tension of the track. That is exactly why it is so easily told on a model when it has the wrong shape or diameter.
The Churchill belonged among the British infantry tanks: it was slow, but heavily armored, and it became renowned for its exceptional ability to overcome steep slopes and broken terrain. Typical of it is the long hull with side frames, a whole row of small wheels and the track led right over the upper outline of the machine. Its service reached from Dieppe through Tunisia and Italy to northwestern Europe, and a whole family of engineering specials came about on its chassis.
Seat the idler only at the moment when you have the track finished, so that you can tune the sag. With link tracks it pays to fit the wheel dry at first and to fix it after the final trial. You will manage the painting at the same time as the hull, and only then add the wear on the contact surface and brownish dust into the hollows. On this machine the bottom of the running gear tends to be almost covered by the side skirts, so choose the strength of the weathering according to what will be seen of the finished model at all.
