The New Ware 1:48 DH.110 Sea Vixen FAW.2 BASIC mask set is the basic step of the range for the glazing. It copes even with doubly curved surfaces, where tape does not hold its shape.

The basic step of the mask range from the manufacturer New Ware in 1:48 scale. The package holds machine-cut self-adhesive masks that are applied to the clear parts of the model and make it possible to spray the cockpit frames in the color of the airframe. The shapes follow the parts of the particular Trumpeter kit.
The DH.110 Sea Vixen was a British twin-engine carrier-based fighter with twin tail booms and an asymmetric cockpit layout, where the place for the second crew member is recessed into the fuselage. It is exactly this configuration that makes the glazing one of the most characteristic features of the model.
Canopies with double curvature are the most demanding case. A flat mask cannot be laid onto such a surface in one go — it has to be attached in the middle first and then pressed down gradually toward the edges, so that the material spreads evenly. If a wave forms somewhere all the same, very gentle warming helps, from a hairdryer on a low setting at a safe distance for instance; the material softens and follows the shape better. Never pull on the mask by force, because a stretched piece no longer matches the shape of the frame. Fill any gaps that are left with a piece of masking tape or with masking fluid.
This is a stand-alone mask set. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
