The Crusader belonged to the British cruiser tanks, that is, to machines built for speed and mobility rather than for thick armor. In British nomenclature it carries the designation Cruiser Tank Mk.VI, and the Mk.II version is its second production guise. Characteristic features are Christie suspension with five large road wheels on each side and the low hull silhouette drawn out lengthwise.
The main weapon was a 2-pounder gun, whose designation comes from the weight of the shell, not from the caliber. The Crusaders made their name in the North African campaign, where the desert conditions gave them a hard time: dust got into the drive train and reliability was a constant theme. Machines that fell into the hands of the opponent were taken onto their own strength by the German side under the captured-equipment number 746, supplemented by the letter e according to their origin.
Before gluing, rid the parts of surplus material and marks from production, sand the seating surfaces and try the assembly dry. The most attention is called for by the running gear with its large wheels and the track, which it is practical to spray away from the model and fit at the very end. Before painting, wash and degrease the whole model, so that the coat holds. Desert shades come out best when you apply them in several light layers and only then add dust and abrasion on the edges.
The kit suits modelers interested in the North African campaign and also collectors of captured hardware. The twofold treatment of the same vehicle allows two markedly different models to be built from the same subject.
